Yelp, that’s right! Do you realize that  our life expectancy is directly proportional to our lung capacity? For the majority of people living in or near metropolitan areas, traffic and secondhand smoke vastly accelerate loss of breathing capacity and increase the incidence of lung cancer. However, antioxidant rich vegetables and fruits such as broccoli and apples can help mitigate these effects. One study revealed that subjects who ate more then five apples a week had better lung function than those who ate no apples at all. It’s also been shown that the antioxidant isothiocyanates in cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, substantially reduce lung cancer risk! So, as our mothers may have said “Eat your vegetables, especially broccoli!”
